I love reading, specially non-fiction books. Over the past 5 years more than a hundred books on entrepreneurship, investments, business, personal development and psychology have being downloaded to my Kindle.

Some of them are so good that I bought the hardcover. This story is about five basic books that will set the solid foundation in your entrepreneurship journey.

5. the art of war

If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him.” -Sun Tzu.

The Art of War is more than just about war. It is about every struggle or confrontation, whether external or internal.

The teachings can be applied to management (care about your team, but also be tough), strategy (know your enemy), tactics (don’t just do something for the sake of doing something, make sure it helps you), warning (don’t attack someone just because they made you mad), information is king (don’t go into battle without knowing what you’re up against) and even how to lose… Not bad for a 2500 years-old book.

4. rich dad, poor dad

“Intelligence solves problems and produces money. Money without financial intelligence is money soon gone.”  – Robert Kiyosaki.

This book set the very foundation of my personal finance habits.

It will open your eyes on so many topics that hopefully will awake the rich man inside you, and put him to work. It is based on Kiyosaki’s experiences and learnings through a lifetime.

He highlights the different attitudes to money, work and the life of two men (rich dad, and poor dad) and how they influenced key decisions in his life.

3. the 4-hour workweek

“For all of the most important things, the timing always sucks. Waiting for a good time to quit your job? The stars will never align and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. Conditions are never perfect. “Someday” is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. “- Tim Ferriss

This book is about creating an infrastructure so you can work only 4 hours a week and use your time to serve you, instead the other way around.

It is divided in 4 sections, each of which explores the components of lifestyle design. If you are an entrepreneur or want to start your own thing, this is the book for the foundation.

2. HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE

“It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.”  – Dale Carnegie.

First of all, I genuinely believe that anyone who reads this book has an advantage in life. Period.

The book is divided in four sections:

  1. Fundamental Techniques in Handling People: Give honest and sincere appreciation.
  2. Six Ways to Make People Like You: Talk in terms of the other person’s interests
  3. How to Win People to Your Way of Thinking: Show respect for others’ opinions (never say “you’re wrong”)
  4. Be a Leader: How to Change People Without Giving Offense or Arousing Resentment: Make the other person happy about doing the thing that you suggest.

You will not regret buying the hardcover version of this book and pass it to your children.

1. antifragile

“Antifragility is beyond resilience or robustness. The resilient resists shocks and stays the same; the antifragile gets better”. – Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

This is a must have for entrepreneurs and investors because facing uncertainty is our job, and the ability to gain from it, to become better is the Antifragile mindset.

I have based every aspect of my life in this book and I cannot recommend this author enough. Truly game changing.
